Scheduling entries and releases
How to schedule content entries for future publication, organize multi-document Release Bundles, and coordinate atomic campaign launches.
Before you begin
- A SCHMA workspace
- Editor, Admin, or Owner permissions
- At least one content entry or release bundle
Marketing campaigns, product updates, and editorial deadlines often require content to go live at an exact date and time without manual intervention. SCHMA provides both single-entry scheduling and multi-document Release Bundles to orchestrate atomic launches across complex content architectures.
Scheduled publishing overview
In SCHMA Studio, content can be scheduled in two distinct operational modes:
- Single Entry Scheduling: Target publication for an individual article, landing page, or announcement.
- Release Bundles: Group multiple related content entries across different content models into an atomic bundle that publishes simultaneously.
Scheduling an individual entry
When drafting an entry in the Studio, click the arrow next to the Publish button and select Schedule Publish. Choose your target date, time, and timezone. The entry transitions to the scheduled status.
Coordinating multi-document Release Bundles
When launching a major feature or marketing campaign, multiple content types must update together—such as a new product model, an announcement blog post, and updated homepage banners. Publishing these manually one-by-one can create awkward transitional states for site visitors.
Navigate to the Releases tab in the Studio to create a Release Bundle:
- Click New Release and enter a campaign name (e.g.,
Q4 Feature Release). - Add draft entries from any content type into the release bundle.
- Set an optional target publication timestamp for the entire release bundle.
- Preview the combined release bundle inside your staging environment.
Release status transitions and calendar view
Releases move through three defined phases: draft (items being assembled and reviewed), scheduled (locked with an active launch timer), and published (atomically released and live).
The Calendar view in the Releases tab displays a visual timeline of all upcoming releases, allowing editorial teams to spot scheduling conflicts and coordinate publishing schedules at a glance.
Editing or canceling scheduled releases
Before the target timestamp is reached, scheduled entries or release bundles can be edited, rescheduled, or canceled at any time. Canceling a scheduled release transitions the entries back to draft status, leaving live production content completely untouched.
